👁️ BACKGROUND

This event is inspired by Geocities! WHAT IS GEOCITIES? GeoCities became a home for then-brand-new internet users, much like Facebook and other forms of social media are for our generation. At its peak, GeoCities hosted over 38 million pages designed by 3 million users.

The thing that differentiated GeoCities was the decision to organize the free server space it offered users into virtual “neighborhoods”. The service also allowed people to create webpages of their own personal interest without much knowledge of coding or web design being required. The combination of self-designated “neighborhoods” and complete freedom of expression resulted in the service expanding quite rapidly considering the standards of the time.

🎟Friday Night Movie🎟 ft. The Last Unicorn (1982)

Online event

Its time to revisit another animated classic - this month Geekalicious presents an encore presentation of the Rankin/Bass film The Last Unicorn!

Synopsis- "In this animated musical, a young unicorn learns that she may soon be the last of her kind. She leaves the safety of her protected forest and enlists the help of Schmendrick , a gentle, albeit clumsy, sorcerer. Together, they embark on a long and dangerous journey with one goal: to find the other unicorns and save them from extinction."

This movie may be about a unicorn, but its still BADASS.
Is it better than Legend?? Guess you'll have to tune in to find out!

---------------------------------------------
Rating: G for intense & frightening scenes, a busty lusty humanoid tree, Jeff Bridges' bad singing, existentialist depressing themes

🤩 Let's Go Outside!!

High Park

Heeeeeey all! Let's get outside and reacquaint ourselves in the real world!

Since it might be most of our first time in a big social group setting, I thought we can play some ice breaker games to get to know each other! AND throw a frisbee, hit a badminton racket, kick or throw a ball at a distance, and geek out over the things we've got ourselves into during COVID.

Whether you're vaccinated or not, let's be considerate and practice some safe distancing. A mask or face shield is required!

If you'd like to share food, I prefer that the food is dry or packaged individually (no wet fruits like grapes / berries).

We'll be meeting around the hillside gardens of High Park. I'm looking forward to seeing you there :)
======

EXTRA BITS --

* When you RSVP, your first and last name is required. Since we're meeting in person, I thought it would just be safe to have that for contact tracing

** Also I will be taking some 360 photos of us in the park, if you don't want your face shown, please let me know in person or comment below

*** As we get closer to the date, I will message people who RSVP'd yes my cell # incase they get lost in the park!**
