Peacemaker don’t look as good as I hoped. Part of the humor of the character in The Suicide Squad was how out of place yet earnest he was. He was a great example of an 80s action hero transplanted into the real world. The TV show is trying to be too silly and humanize him at the same time.
The new The Batman trailer is awesome. I’m glad this movie is still happening. I love the idea of seeing a Batman that’s already made a name for himself having to face his first super villain.
Glad to see more about Suicide Squad vs Justice League. I would have preferred game play, but the story trailer was fun.
Though I am going to ask the forbidden question, what did they do to Deadshot? Right out of the gate he’s a hard character to put into a video game. He’s the man who never misses, so in an interactive game either he has perpetual aim-bot, or you the player can miss. And as such not really doing the character correctly (same reason it’s hard to make a Superman game, a fully accurate version would have one button labeled “use powers” and you’d win.) Also, why does he have a jetpack? That was never a regular piece of gear from the comics. And of course, why is he black? Race and gender swaps are divisive, and in many ways insulting to everyone involved. You’re changing the established history of a character to inorganically add representation, while also telling the people you want to represent their characters aren’t popular enough.
This get’s weirder when you go back to my last point about Deadshot not using a jetpack. There is a DC villain who is an expert with firearms (without the “never miss” problem,) close quarters combat, known for using a jetpack, african american, and even lead Task Force X for a while in the comics. Black Manta. He’s an awesome and underused character that would have fit perfectly without race swapping an existing one.
Black Adam looks great, from what little we got. Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate seems like perfect casting. Little worried about how much CGI they’re going to use in it. Though I guess that’s inevitable in this age. I miss elaborate sets and locations.
Gotham Knights: Court of Owls. Again, story trailer but no gameplay. I am glad batman games are moving back to a more grounded comic book style. I found the Arkham games got too gritty.
New Wounder Woman movie sounds great, so long as Patty Jenkins isn’t writing it.
There were other things, but those were the only projects I was interested in. What did everyone else think?
